Not a better pitch or a better process deck. A more honest way of doing the work.
Before 4FMV was a staffing firm, it was a job board. The idea was straightforward: make rates and margins visible, let contractors and employers rate each other, and let the market set the price instead of the agencies.
The name came from that job board. 4FMV means For Fair Market Value. The idea that transparent rates would let the market set the price without agencies putting their fingers on the scale. The job board didn't make it. The values did.
It was a direct response to the way staffing agencies operated, and still operate. Opaque pricing. Contractors kept in the dark about what clients pay. Clients kept in the dark about what contractors earn. Everyone in the transaction except the agency paying a cost for that information gap.
The job board never made it. Building enough traffic to make a marketplace work takes more capital than we had at the time. But the conviction that launched us, that transparency serves everyone better, is at the heart of everything we do.
So we built the agency instead. Same principle, different vehicle. 4FMV was founded in 2009 on the idea that a staffing firm could operate with open books and still run a real business. That clients and contractors could both know exactly what the deal is. That trust, not information asymmetry, is the better foundation for a long-term relationship.
Seventeen years later the team has not changed much. David Gammon founded the firm and still leads every client relationship personally. Anne Johnston built the operational infrastructure that makes the back end work. Marc Roginsky leads candidate sourcing and stays ahead of how recruitment is changing. The industry has changed considerably. The conviction hasn't.
For Fair Market Value means something specific here: not just fair pricing, but fair dealing with everyone involved. Clients and contractors alike.
We tell clients what contractors earn and what we charge. We tell contractors the same. Everyone in the transaction knows what the deal is. This still surprises people, and it shouldn't.
We bring twenty-plus years to every search. We research the role, the team, and the context before we present anyone. The work happens on our side before it reaches yours.
Communication isn't a status update. It's the right questions, straight talk, and the experience to know what matters and when to say it.
In this industry long enough to know what matters. Current enough to keep improving.
— David Gammon, President & CEO, 4FMV
