This is why we started 4FMV. We are a group of professionals that love recruiting, but we hated the staffing industry. We knew there was a better way, and the keys to differentiating ourselves turned out to be simpler than we thought: do the work, tell the truth, and be accountable. By living the principles we call ‘Fair Market Value’, we have steadily grown a loyal client base, a vast network of outstanding candidates, and a very talented, tight-knit team. We know that you just can’t beat talented people doing good work.

I have spent many years working in the world of recruiting. From helping Workopolis get off the ground, to implementing recruiting software (Applicant Tracking Systems and Vendor Management Systems), I have had my share of interactions with staffing agencies. As an operations person, it always surprised me how poorly staffing agencies were set up to manage operations and administration. I knew that we could do it better and that’s why I helped to found 4FMV.
Let’s face it, recruiters and sales people are not selected for their ability to manage the details. It’s not sexy and it doesn’t impact the margin on the next deal. But it is essential to supporting our clients, contractors, and candidates which is essential to our long-term business focus.
I’ve experienced many companies where the forward-facing team and the back-office people have different goals, and work at cross purposes. We all have to work together. I believe that salespeople and recruiters need timely and useful information, and a smooth-running operation to serve our clients properly.

I have spent several years working in the IT staffing industry, and all my experiences have proven to me that the rhetoric is all the same. Everyone says they value their client relationships, but while a few individuals have the right intentions, the industry makes it difficult for them to live up to that standard. The deck is stacked against them. Employers are focused on raising their over-all margin to please their stakeholders. Clients end up paying too much for candidates, and candidates end up taking less than their worth. There is no long term-vision in this industry, or at least there wasn’t until 4FMV came along!
I believe in developing long-term relationships and that means focusing on getting to know my clients, asking the right questions, making sure I am available when they need me and proving that I have their best interests in mind. At 4FMV we have built a team who share my belief that providing value for our clients in an open way will build success for everyone in the long term.
